Overview

Maro Matcha is seeking a motivated and experienced Café Supervisor to lead daily operations at our matcha-focused café. Inspired by Japanese tea culture, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality beverages, thoughtful service, and a welcoming customer experience.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills, a passion for food and beverage service, and experience supervising café or restaurant teams. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting staff while maintaining exceptional service and product standards.


Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily café and matcha bar operations

  • Lead, train, and support staff in job duties, customer service, sanitation, and safety procedures

  • Establish and manage staff schedules to meet operational needs

  • Ensure smooth workflow during peak service hours

  • Address customer questions, feedback, and concerns professionally

  • Assist with recipe development and new beverage or menu offerings

  • Prepare food and beverage order summaries and operational reports

  • Oversee inventory support, purchasing coordination, and stock control

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, WHMIS, and workplace health standards

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment

  • Collaborate with team members across customer service, kitchen, and inventory functions

Supervision

Supervise teams ranging from 1–15 staff, including:

  • Food and beverage servers

  • Kitchen and food service helpers

Requirements

1–2 years of experience in food service supervision, café, or restaurant operations

  • Certificate, diploma, or equivalent hands-on experience in hospitality or food service

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and beverage preparation standards

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail

  • Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods

  • Flexible availability (morning, day, evening, night, weekends, and overtime as needed)

  • Valid driver’s licence with access to personal transportation

Required or Preferred Certifications

Food Safety / Safe Food Handling Certificate

  • Smart Serve or Responsible Beverage Service

  • First Aid

  • WHMIS

  • Serving It Right (or equivalent)
