Overview

Maro Matcha is seeking a motivated and experienced Café Manager to lead daily operations at our matcha-focused café. Inspired by Japanese tea culture, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality beverages, thoughtful service, and a welcoming customer experience.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills, a passion for food and beverage service, and experience supervising café or restaurant teams. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting staff while maintaining exceptional service and product standards.


Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the daily operations of the matcha café, including beverage production, customer service, and front- and back-of-house activities.

  • Determine the range and type of food and beverage services offered, and implement standardized operational procedures to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency of service.

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate staff, including baristas, supervisors, and support staff, and ensure ongoing skills development and adherence to company standards.

  • Prepare staff work schedules, assign duties, and monitor performance to ensure adequate coverage, productivity, and service levels.

  • Control inventory levels, oversee ordering of ingredients and supplies, and maintain cost controls to minimize waste and support operational profitability.

  • Monitor revenues and expenses, and adjust operational procedures, pricing, or staffing levels as required to meet business objectives.

  • Resolve customer complaints and service issues in a timely and professional manner to maintain a high standard of guest experience.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations, and maintain a clean, safe, and organized workplace in accordance with applicable legislation.

  • Negotiate arrangements with suppliers for food, beverage, and operational supplies, and monitor quality and delivery standards.

  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and equipment use.

  • Oversee maintenance of equipment and facilities, coordinating repairs and servicing as required to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Manager

Supervise teams ranging from 1–15 staff, including:

  • Food and beverage servers

  • Kitchen and food service helpers

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in the hospitality or food and beverage sector

  • 1–2 years of supervisory or management experience (e.g., café manager, restaurant manager, food service manager, or assistant manager)

  • Proven experience overseeing daily café or restaurant operations, including opening and closing procedures, service standards, and workflow coordination

  • Demonstrated experience in staff recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management within a food service environment

  • Strong hands-on experience with inventory management, ordering, cost control, and monitoring revenues and expenses

  • Experience implementing and maintaining operational procedures to support service quality, consistency, and efficiency

  • Ability to effectively address and resolve customer concerns, ensuring a high standard of service and a positive customer experience

  • Certification or training in tea service, tea preparation, or matcha preparation is considered
