Overview
Maro Matcha is seeking a motivated and experienced Café Supervisor to lead daily operations at our matcha-focused café. Inspired by Japanese tea culture, we are dedicated to delivering high-quality beverages, thoughtful service, and a welcoming customer experience.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong organizational skills, a passion for food and beverage service, and experience supervising café or restaurant teams. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting staff while maintaining exceptional service and product standards.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate daily café and matcha bar operations
Lead, train, and support staff in job duties, customer service, sanitation, and safety procedures
Establish and manage staff schedules to meet operational needs
Ensure smooth workflow during peak service hours
Address customer questions, feedback, and concerns professionally
Assist with recipe development and new beverage or menu offerings
Prepare food and beverage order summaries and operational reports
Oversee inventory support, purchasing coordination, and stock control
Ensure compliance with food safety, WHMIS, and workplace health standards
Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment
Collaborate with team members across customer service, kitchen, and inventory functions
Supervision
Supervise teams ranging from 1–15 staff, including:
Food and beverage servers
Kitchen and food service helpers
Requirements
1–2 years of experience in food service supervision, café, or restaurant operations
Certificate, diploma, or equivalent hands-on experience in hospitality or food service
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and beverage preparation standards
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail
Comfortable standing and walking for extended periods
Flexible availability (morning, day, evening, night, weekends, and overtime as needed)
Valid driver’s licence with access to personal transportation
Required or Preferred Certifications
Food Safety / Safe Food Handling Certificate
